Travel planning before opting into hourly work

By NUMARK.AI Editorial

The trip to a worksite is part of deciding whether an opportunity fits, even though the treatment of travel time can vary under applicable rules. A nearby address may still involve difficult parking, a long walk from the gate or limited transit at the end of a shift. Plan the actual arrival, not just the distance on a map.

Check both directions

Look at transport options for the start and expected finish. Public transit that works in the morning may not run after a late teardown. If you rely on a ride, confirm what happens if the shift ends later than expected. Do not assume the employer will provide transportation unless it is expressly arranged.

Ask where workers may park and which entrance to use. Large sites can have employee gates separate from shipping entrances. Include time for the permitted route, but clarify any required reporting or preparation activities and their lawful treatment.

Read travel estimates carefully

NUMARK.AI currently uses manual mileage, not verified driving routes or live GPS. Under the proposed allowance, the first 15 miles per worker carry no client travel charge; additional mileage has a worker travel component of $1 per mile. This is planning logic, not evidence of an actual payment.

A client must approve mileage and prepay before any future dispatch. Workers should not interpret an estimate as an unconditional reimbursement promise. Resolve disagreements about the route or destination before a real assignment is activated.

Confirm time and location changes

Check the displayed time zone, especially when planning work across regions. A preferred time zone can help make schedules understandable, but it does not change the worksite’s actual reporting time. Confirm the complete date and local time with the assignment contact.

NUMARK.AI launches first in Michigan and does not claim nationwide operational coverage. Dispatch and payments remain unavailable. Use travel planning to evaluate a proposed request, not to begin a trip based solely on a saved reservation.

Before your next step

  • Check transport at both start and finish.
  • Confirm the permitted entrance and local reporting time.
  • Do not travel based only on an unactivated reservation.
